Kaitlyn lay in bed that night, thinking about Zac. She knew that there was
nothing wrong about having feelings for Zac. That was normal. But the sneaking
around part of it wasn't right at all. He was married and she knew that.
More than likely those little kisses meant nothing to him even, he was just
trying to make her feel better about everything going on. But she really wished
that it was more. She hadn't been in a relationship for months, not since she
broke up with her ex who had only wanted her for the sex. She wanted more than
that out of a relationship. She wanted someone to love her unconditionally, who
could be there for her whenever she needed him to be. Zac seemed to be that
person, only she didn't know how he felt. She was afraid he was only trying to
humor her.
Unable to sleep, she climbed out of bed and clicked on the light. She poured
herself a bowl of frosted flakes, and sat at the table in the corner to munch on
it quietly. Miranda was sound asleep, which she was happy for. They had seemed
to work things out during their earlier talk, but right now she just wanted to
be alone with her thoughts.
But someone saw the lights on and knocked softly on the door, slowly opening
it to see who was up. It was Isaac. He saw Kaitlyn in the corner in her own
little world, who hadn't even heard him knock apparently. She was lost in her
thoughts of Zac. He entered the room quietly and closed the door behind him. "
Kaitlyn, are you okay?" He asked.
She nearly jumped and spilled her bowl of cereal when he came in and put a
hand on her shoulder. " Yeah. I... I just... what are you doing up?"
" I was up to use the bathroom and noticed the light was on in here." He
said. " Are you sure your okay? Your crying."
She hadn't even realized she had been crying. She was just that out of it.
With a sigh, she sat back down. " I can't talk about this. Not with you."
Isaac sat next to her, and wiped her tears away. " Is this about Zac? Because
I have to say, I...
I have noticed the way you look at him when you think
none of us are looking."
" Am I really that obvious?" She asked, throwing her arms in the air in
defeat.
He nodded. " I'm afraid so, Kaitlyn. Listen, I understand how you could fall
for him. He's a great guy, that little brother of mine. He's really been there
for you the last few days the way any good friend would do for somebody. He's
been there to comfort you and everything. But I hope you understand he is
only doing this as a friend, Kaitlyn. He's happily married with a kid on the way.
He's not going to come running to you just because your in need of someone right
now."
She rolled her eyes at him. " Isaac, I really just want to be alone right
now. Please?" She asked.
With another nod, he walked out of the room and left her to her thoughts,
which went straight back to Zac. She wished it would have been him to catch the
lights on, and not his brother. More than anything, she wanted to talk to
him.

The following morning, Zac woke up before Kate and he decided to let her
sleep. She looked so peaceful, and he didn't want to bother her. He wanted to
talk to Kaitlyn anyway about what was going on between them. So he hopped into a
quick shower, and dressed in a gray shirt that said Unleash The Beast and a pair
of blue jeans. Then he knocked on Kaitlyn's door, hoping she was awake.
Miranda had just gotten out of a shower herself, and wrapped in a towel she
opened the door to see him. " Hey Zac." She smiled. " Come on in."
He looked at her in surprise, wishing she had some actual clothes on. " I...
maybe I... I'll just come back when your dressed. Can you just... tell Kaitlyn I
came by? I wanted to talk to her before we began the day today."
" It's really okay, Zac. I can grab my clothes and change in the bathroom.
Come on in." She took his hand, and dragged him into the room. Closing the door,
she went into her suitcase and took an outfit into the bathroom to change into.
" She's still sleeping, but just go ahead and wake her. It's time to get up
anyway." She closed the door to the bathroom, leaving her sister alone with
Zac.
He sat on the edge of Kaitlyn's bed, and kissed her gently on the lips to
wake her. She smiled up at him, and slowly opened her eyes. " Hey. What's brings
you in here?" She asked.
" I was hoping we could talk about some things. Can we get some breakfast?
Just the two of us?" He asked.
" Yeah." She sat up, and kissed him quickly on the lips. " I would like
that."
" Great. I'll let you change, and we'll head out. I'll meet you by the
elevator's." He kissed her again, and got up to leave the room. With a smile,
he closed the door behind him.
She got out of her pajama's and changed into a white tank top with a blue tye
dyed cardigan and blue jeans. Quickly brushing her hair out and putting it into
a ponytail, she raced out the door just as Miranda was coming out of the
bathroom. " Where are you going?" She asked.
" To have breakfast with Zac. I'll be back in a little while." Kaitlyn called
out to her, closing the door behind her.
She found Zac at the elevator as he had said he would be waiting there for
her, and he pushed the button. They went in, and he pushed the button for the
first floor. " I'm glad we get to have some time alone." He told her. " We
really need to talk about what's happening between us."
" I agree. I... I've been up most of the night thinking about it, to be
completely honest." She admitted.
He nodded, and was about to kiss her when the elevator stopped moving. Trying
another button to get it going again didn't help. They were now stuck. " Great.
This is absolutely perfect!" He was about to punch the wall, but she grabbed his
wrist.
" Zac, punching the wall won't help. That will hurt you more than the wall."
She told him. Pushing the call button, she let the let the service desk know
that the elevator was stuck.

Kate woke up in bed alone. She looked around the room for Zac, and saw no
sign of him. She called out for him, and there was no response. Sleepily
climbing out of the bed, she went into the bathroom hoping maybe he was in there
taking a shower and just couldn't hear her.
He wasn't there. " Where in the
hell did my husband go?" She asked herself.
Deciding she would figure it out after a shower, she turned on the faucet to
the tub and got the water to the right temprature for her. She got in and took a
nice warm shower, and then dressed in a yellow sundress. There was a knock on
the door as she was putting it on. She opened the door a moment later, and saw
Isaac.
" Hey. Can I come in and talk to Zac, Kate?" He asked.
" If he was here, I would say yes. He seems to have disapeared though." She
told him. " I have no clue where he went."
" I may have an idea. Let's talk, Kate." He entered the room and sat down at
the table in the corner of the room.
She sat down next to him, and looked him in the eyes. " Is my best friend
right, Ike? Am I losing my husband to Kaitlyn?"
He nodded. " It... seems to be happening, Kate. She has a thing for him,
and... I have a feeling he feels the same for her. I could be wrong, but... I'm
pretty sure they have a thing going."
With a sigh, she felt tears come to her eyes. " How could this be happening,
Ike? I... I thought we were happy. I mean, we have a kid on the way. How could
he do this to me?"
" I intend to have a talk with him about this when I see him. Don't worry,
Kate. Your not going to lose him if I have anything to say about it. He's just
straying a little because he feels bad for her. I know that's part of it."
Kate nodded. " What about Kaitlyn though? I thought I could trust her."
" I had a talk with her last night, but I will have another talk with her. I
promise she isn't doing this on purpose. I think she just feels more comfortable
going to Zac when she needs to talk, and if I give her a reason to trust me,
maybe she will stop leaning on him so much."
" I sure hope so." She sighed. " I guess I owe Natalie an apology for going
off on her last night. I told her off a little, telling her to back off of
Kaitlyn."
" Well, she has no right to bother Kaitlyn either though, so you did the
right thing there." He said. " Don't worry about apologizing to her."
With a nod, she led Isaac to the door and he gave her a big hug. She returned
it before closing the door on him. She needed some alone time right now.
Ordering some room service for herself, she got herself an order of french toast
and bacon with eggs and some fruit.
